Pam’s discipline based research interests are centred in her industry experience and specialism of Fashion Retail Interiors and experiential Brand Environments. Her professional background encompasses global brands to bespoke interiors, working on diverse projects from commercial retail, exhibition, residential and leisure environments. From 2000-2005, Pam was a designer at Imagination on events and exhibition design for Ford Motor Group and Nike. In 2005 she joined Brinkworth employed as an Associate Director. Responsibilities included concept development, furniture prototypes, detail construction and documentation of brand guidelines for global retail roll-outs. Clients included Allsaints, Alexander McQueen, Biba, Heineken, House of Fraser, Mary Portas, Moroglio Fashion Group, Selfridges, Supremebeing and Whistles.

Pam is interested how the evolution of Interior Design has manifested within our everyday encounters of the built environment. Interior Designer fosters an interdisciplinary approach that can challenge the boundaries of art and design via spatial installations that confront the contemporary commentary of the thresholds of interior design. She is also interested in the phenomenology, sensory and ephemeral qualities of constructed and re-appropriated spaces in which we occupy.

Her current research encompasses the themes of phenomenology, feminism and ethics within the realm of Interiors. In particular the constructed spaces of film/tv, fashion and retail create fascinating dialogues between space, fiction/reality, consumer/character and how design informs, imagines and creates new ideas within a spatial dimension. Papers include, The Handmaids Tale: The Subtlety of Gender in the Interior (2017) presented at The Handmaids Tale Symposium at University of Worcester, Mise-en-scene: Performative Spaces for Fashion (2018) presented at FCVC (Fashion Costume and Visual Culture) Conference at University of Zagreb, Croatia and The Curated Representation of Saga Noren (2019) at FCVC in Roubaix, France.
