Programme Overview

This course will aim to develop observational drawing skills while experimenting with different media including charcoal, paint and ink and will include moving from 2D to 3D.  Students will be encouraged to develop a widening approach to art making through self-expression and experimentation whilst acknowledging the importance of a solid foundation of core drawing skills.  This course will help to gain confidence built through group interaction and skill development.   All materials will be provided for this course although we do ask that you bring along an A3 sketchbook and an A3 portfolio case or similar.     Choose from either a morning or an afternoon session.

Please note there is no class Saturday 10 February 2024.

Children’s Course Bursaries:
As part of the School’s strategy to encourage participation in Further and Higher Education from currently under-represented groups, a system of bursary support is available for Children’s Saturday Courses. This support is aimed at low-income and unemployed parents/guardians of children who would otherwise be unable to join the Programme. Bursaries are available for Children’s Courses only. Our aim is to offer direct assistance to such students in the form of a fee waiver directly from the Department. There are a limited number of bursaries available and only one bursary may be awarded per household.  Deadline for Bursaries is Friday 29th September 2023.

For further details and to request a Bursary, please email open-studio@gsa.ac.uk.
