The Glasgow School of Art Exhibitions Department curates an innovative year-round public programme that links into GSA staff research, teaching and learning, student experience, creative network, our communities, contemporary practice and heritage.
Our innovative programme of exhibitions, performance, seminars, talks, off-site projects, publishing initiatives and outreach, aims to explore the creative, social and educational nature of contemporary practice. The programme works across all disciplines and offers the public a glimpse of the life and outputs of the art school. GSA Exhibitions makes and supports creative opportunities to show staff research. As well as supporting departmental-led student exhibitions and events, GSA Exhibitions creates employability opportunities for students and feeds into professional practice. We also make exciting links to the rich heritage of The Glasgow School of Art and its collections. Supporting GSA activities working with our neighbours and wider communities, we contribute to creative engagement.
GSA Exhibitions is a key public facing part of the art school working with and part of the network of arts organisations in the city and beyond. GSA Exhibitions regularly contributes to key events in the city, including Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art. Our programme is free admission.
Partnerships:
'Race, Rights and Sovereignty', is an on-going programme established as a partnership between The Art School: GSA's Students' Association (GSASA) and The GSA Public Lecture Series, seeking to celebrate, challenge, inform and inspire the next generation of artists, designers and architects about race and empower them to have a creative voice. GSA Library has a supporting resource of literature.
GSA Exhibitions has also worked in partnership with other organisations including Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art, GOMA, Africa in Motion film festival, CCA Glasgow, University of Glasgow, The Steven Campbell Trust, Glasgow Life, Lux Scotland, University of St Andrews, Kinning Park Complex, Historic Scotland, Kings College London and Scottish Contemporary Art Network.
