Staff recruitment is key to ensuring that the School retains a central role in the education of artists, designers and architects and we have an effective Recruitment and Selection Policy to ensure we continues to attract staff of the highest calibre.


In brief the policy and procedures are designed to facilitate effective recruitment and selection of candidates, cost-effectively and efficiently in a fair, consistent and transparent manner.

To ensure the GSA attracts and retains excellent staff, the School will provide financial assistance to staff relocating to Glasgow in order to take up a position with the School. For details of our current Relocation Policy please click here.

All vacancies within the GSA willl be advertised and will be posted on the GSA website.

Selection and Recruitment


Selection criteria (Job Description and Person Specification) will be reviewed on an ongoing basis to ensure that they are justifiable on non-discriminatory grounds as being essential for the effective performance of the job.


All staff involved in the selection and interview process will have received training in equal opportunities and interview and selection skills.

Reasons for selection and non appointment of applicants must be recorded and retained in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
