Student Support for EU nationals studying in Scotland in 2019-2020

Following a number of questions from the sector, the Scottish Government has confirmed its commitment to provide free tuition to EU students in academic year 2019/2020. This confirmation extends to all eligible EU nationals and associated groups, on eligible further education, higher education, and postgraduate courses that currently attract tuition fee support from the Scottish Government. 

Further information about the eligibility requirements for student support are available on the Student Awards Agency Scotland website (SAAS).

Shirley-Ann Somerville, Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science in the Scottish Parliament, announced on 1 February 2018 the Scottish Government’s commitment to cover the cost of tuition for the duration of study for all eligible non-UK EU citizens commencing study in the academic year 2019/20. This extends their earlier commitment to these students starting studies in 2017/18 and 2018/19.
